Welcome to Great and Mighty Things.
Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
The reason that we started this site is that we feel that our modern day Christianity has missed what it means to call unto the Lord and he will answer with Great and Mighty Things. Ever since the book of Genesis, God has responded to mankind when they CALL UPON THE LORD.
Genesis 4:26 "And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD."
One of the most famous verses about calling upon the Lord is used by thousands of soul-winners around the world,
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
What has happened in our generation is that we have changed what it means to call upon the name of the Lord. We now have something called "worship" which is nothing more than a dancing and rock & roll concert. In the days of revivals under Charles G. Finney and Jonathan Edwards, worship was men and women on their face before God, begging and praying for confession of their sins and begging for revival. The demons of hell have changed that completely. Now we have "worship" leaders that lead people in jumping, dancing, rock & roll and other things that the bible calls lasciviousness and the same type of worship that the Bible describes for those who worshipped Idols. Why do we not have revival when this is spreading like wild fire in our churches? It is because we no longer have holiness and we no longer know how to pray and call upon the name of the Lord.
Charles Finney tells about how before they would have a revival, a spirit of prayer would spread like wild fire, not a spirit of Rock & Roll and dancing. He tells how people would meet in the morning for concerts of prayer, at noon for concerts of prayer, on the way home from work for concerts of prayer, and every evening for weeks for concerts of prayer. It is said that many times the spirit of prayer was so great that a visit to a town by a traveling business man would leave such a profound inpact on him that he found himself on his own face before God in repentance and prayer. It is said of the revivals of Jonathan Edwards and others that the power of God would come down so mightily through the prayers of a small group that one could walk down the street and see people falling on their face in the front of their home or in some other place calling on the name of the Lord. Some of the greatest Christians have been saved or empowered in this way. Charles Finney went into the woods to pray and was there all day until the power of God came upon him, he was saved, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Jack Hyles went into the woods to pray for many days and the power of God came on him in mighty revival that has helped build the great First Baptist Church of Hammond.
What I am calling for is for Christians everywhere to examine their lives and to CALL UPON THE LORD, not in unholy rock & roll "worship" but by falling upon our knees before a holy God and confessing our sins and asking God to forgive and then we will truly see GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS.
Great and mighty things, is when people begin to call upon the Lord. Great and mighty things is when peole repent of their sins and their worldly ways. Great and mighty things is when the power of God comes down. Great and mighty things is when revival sweeps a town, an area, a county, a state, a nation, and even the world. Great and mighty things happen when we expose the corruption that has caused a decline in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has elevated all the evils of lasciviousness so that our churches resemble the heathen temples that God hated in the days of Israel. Great and mighty things come when we read and hearken to this verse:
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
We have heard of American Churches bringing bongo drums back to Africa and presenting them to African pastors. We have reversed the trend away from evil and we have pointed them all back to the pit from whence they were digged.
It is a phenomena of modern day churches that some of the most liberal and unspiritual churches where no one is saved in the services and the spirit of revival is severely lacking, that they have a pride about giving to missions. I know of a church like that that brags that they have a half million in their church (speaking of all the mission churches as theirs) and that church is one that has no Sunday Evening services and has lost all standards of separation and holiness. In fact, the pastor's son is addicted to cocaine and the pastor just leaves him to rot in prison even after we repeatedly begged to get him into a Christian center that has a 90% cure rate from a friend that had been in Lester Roloff Ministries. Great and Mighty Things would be when we repent and turn back to God and our pastors and missionaries get on their knees as well and tell God that churches have sunk to the depths because of poor leadership and a lack of knowing what it means to "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
